The Senate on Tuesday approved Dale Marks to lead the Pentagon’s work on energy and the environment.
Marks — who is becoming assistant secretary of Defense for energy, installations and environment — most recently served as executive director of the 96th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
His confirmation vote was strongly bipartisan — 77-26. It comes as the administration targets long-standing Department of Defense work on renewable energy and fleet electrification.
Marks did not touch on climate during a hearing in April, but Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) questioned him on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) cleanup.
