House Democrat to start environmental justice caucus

A House progressive plans in the coming months to launch a new House caucus focused on addressing the impacts of pollution on vulnerable communities.

Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.) announced her intent to lead the House’s first Environmental Justice Caucus at two events in the past months. She has not provided details on the launch’s timeline.

The caucus’ formation would come at a tough time for the environmental justice movement. President Donald Trump has slashed funding and staffing for related programs.
